Security / Hacking
It is presumed that every faction is secured. This means that there are people on the ground (Be they NPCs or PCs) that are physically preventing known enemies to enter restricted areas. It also means that basic security precautions have been taken to the best of their ability to prevent breaking and entering and hacking various networks.
Systems are divided into secured and basic:
Basic systems are things like door operations in non-secure areas, elevators, lights, displays ect.
Secure systems are things like doors that only some people within the faction would have access to, life support, information archives, user profiles, ect.
IF IN DOUBT CONTACT AN ADMIN OR ASSUME IT IS SECURE.
The following numbers represent the checks you require to access any of the systems. This is presuming no one is aware of what you are doing. At any time if another character who would have access to these systems realizes there is an attack they can simply reset the system to stop the attack.
All numbers are the highest possible roll available to that rank in firewalls.
Secure Systems- Rank 4 - 30
Basic systems – Rank 3 - 24
Secure systems- Rank 3 - 24
Basic Systems – Rank 2 - 18
Secure Systems- Rank 3 - 24
Basic Systesm – Rank 2 – 18
The only way around these numbers is by ROLEPLAY. If you have a story reason consented to by the Admins or by the opposing faction you may lower the check by a rank.
Personal residences/communications are all by default the same. The players Firewall Ranks max roll.
ALL HACKS ON PLAYER CHARACTERS MUST BE DONE WITH THAT PLAYERS CONSENT.
